  • Proclaimation of 1763

    Proclaimation of 1763
    Britain enforved the proclaimation of 1763 to avoid conflict with natives.In order to do that, it banned all settlement West of Appalachians. This offended the colonists greatly.
  • Stamp Act

    This act required colonists to buy special stamp for every legal document, newspaper, pamphlet...etc. Colonist who disobeyed were to be tried in the admiralty courts.
  • Boston Massacre

    This is an event where Brititsh soilders fired and five colonists died.It started out from job conflicts between poor British soldiers and colonists. Samuel Adams later use this event to say “British attacks harmless citizens.” The Boston Massacre is considered one of the most important events that turned colonial sentiment against King George III and British Parliamentary authority.
  • Declaration of Independence

    A document of America declaring independence from Britain. It states the wrongdoings of the King of england, and how he isn't fit to be a king. It also uses English philosipher John Locke's concept that people enjoy "natural rights". Its states that a proper government should give rights to the people, and wiht the people's consent, a government can be overthrown.
  • Articles of Confederation

    A new type of government propsed by Congress. Each state had governments that ruled themselves, and each state, no matter what size, shared the same amount of vote--1. Because of the lack of power in the national government, this form of government eventuall led to many problems.
  • Land Ordinance of 1785

    Land Ordinance of 1785
    A event where the national government took over all the land west of the Appalachin Mountains due to various state's claim on the land. The government then divided and sold the lands in a way affrodable to all class, and not just the rich people.

    A group of farmers, led by Shay, protest in anger because of the econmic pressur placed on them.
  • Annapolis Conference

    A conference involving the 13 different states. This conference's purpose was to modify and improve the current one at the time.
  • Virginia Plan

    Proposed my Madison, a bicameral government, or two-house, legislature, with membership based on each state’s population. This was quikly rejected, because it gave more power to states with large population.
  • New Jersey's Plan

    New Jersey's Plan
    This one of the plans proposed by delegates. The plans was a unicameral legisture where every state received equal representation.
  • Great Compromise

    Great Compromise
    A hybrid of New Jersey's plan and Virginia plan. Roger Sherman, a political leader from Connecticut, suggested the Great Compromise, which offered a two-house Congress to satisfy both small and big states.
