    If these schools were not established, only the wealthy would have been continued to be educated. It would have continued to increase the knowledge gap between the wealthy and the poor, creating more problems in the social and political realm.

    If the state did not side aside land for colleges, schools may not have been funded by the state and federal government. Because of this act, states still receive federal funding to build and improve schools.
  • Stanley Hall's Child Study Movement

    Stanley Hall's Child Study Movement
    This helped teachers understand the way children develop. They learned that memorization is not a way of learning. This laid the foundation for the base of how education is tailored today.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    Brown v. Board of Education
    This allowed schools to be desegregated. If this court case ruled differently the school system would not be the same. Schools could still be segregated by law. It allowed children of color the opportunity to receive the same education is white students.
  • Public Law 94-142; IDEA Act

    Public Law 94-142; IDEA Act
    When the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act was created in 1975, doors opened for all students. This allowed all students with disabilities to receive a paper education and reach their goals. This changed the idea of education for families with special needs.
