The Battle of Fort Sumpter
General P.G.T. Beauregard, commanding of the Confederate forces around Charleston Harbor, opened fire on the Union soldiers holding Fort Sumter. On April 13 Major Robert Anderson, commander, surrendered the fort, the next day everyone was evacuated. -
