I live in a tendemt with 2 other families. My dad is working on the staute of liberty. I came from china. some things i hope to gain in the U.S would be more right and get more money and better job. My sister is very sick. my purpose for righting this is to let future generations now about their ancestores. -
Chines exclusion act
s im coming to america a lot of people are looking at me. some women made dirty looks at me. the chines exclusion act wasan act were chines were excluded from most things. my My My parents got payed less then white immigrants. i had trouble coming to america because of the act. My mother went to get a job but a white lady got it instead of her. I saw many things happpen to chines people as i was in america so far. As we walked down street people made fun of the way i looked. -
statue of liberty
The statue of libery was made of coper. My father was an immigrant that helped make it. he said about 3 in 5 workers died on the job. The statue of liberty was something a lot of people talked about. Mostly the wealthy people talk about the statue. you saw pictures of it in the news paper. If you looked over the bridge ona nice day you coulld see it shinning or you saw ferries (little boats) going out to see it with people in them. -
First airplane
The first airplane was amazing. I had never seen anything like it. My father had a big intrest inthem so anything he could find about them he would keep. I saw the very first airplane it was ina magazine. It wasnt very big. It looked like it could only hold 2 people. as soon as the first airplane came out you heard about school for piolets. I heard that the ride in an airplan ewasnt the best it was bumpy and not very comfortible. -
Women get the right to vote
When women got the right to vote many woen werre very happy. men were not as happy. Some men put women down. when my mother and I were walking down the road men made comments about women getting the right to vote. Many women said they were going to protest if the law didnt pass. A lot pf women voteed about just as amny as the men voted. My parents never voted they thought they would have to go threw to much because of society. -
world wide depression
During the depression things gto very tough. some night my family went without earing. We never ate breakfeat. Sometimes the only thing we ate all day was a little peace of bread. During the depression i've enver seen so many people live on the street. My little sibling became very skinny from not eating right. We almost lost the tendement we lived in with 2 other families. Sometimes bugs got in our food and we had to throw it away. The depression was a very bad time in the U.S.
