While he also co-authored Principia Mathematica with Bertrand Russell and published it in three volumes between 1910 and 1913. This collaboration aimed to describe a set of axioms and interference rules in symbolic logic from which all mathematical truths could, in principle, be proven correct. The research they thought would take a year at most collectively took over a decade to complete.

Alfred North Whitehead is most notably known for his theory of extensive abstraction. He aimed for an empirical foundation of the most abstract objects and a new semantic of events and relations. The method of comprehensive conception is the basis of constructing a new concept of nature based on events and their connections.

The research they thought would take a year at most collectively took over a decade to complete. The first two volumes are directed toward other mathematicians and the last more for the public audiences. They were working on such a level that it was only on page 86 of Volume Two, where they proved 1+1=2. Their combined efforts garnished them the 23rd spot on America's 100 nonfictional books to read.
  • Alfred North Whitehead Disproven 1931

This theory was later disproven by Kurt Gobel in 1931 with his theory of incompleteness. But taking a deeper look Principia Mathematica was instrumental in disproving itself. Whitehead's work stretched far beyond science, with his books being the foundation of ontology and computer science.
