Trimester One
The baby develops rapidly during this period. The brain and spinal cord form. By the end of 8 weeks the fetus began developing fingers and toes. Trimester Two
By the end of this stage the fetus will be able to hear, swallow and most of the organs will be fully developed. The fetus will begin moving around and kicking. The fetus will be about 14 inches and weigh about 2 pounds.

THIRD TRIMESTER
The fetus can see and hear.The brain continues to develop.The kidneys and lungs continue to develop. The bones of the skull stay soft to pass through the birth canal.The fetus can suck its thumb and cry.By 38 to 40 weeks, the lungs have matured fully and the baby measures around 19 to 21 inches and anywhere between 6 to 9 lbs.

BIRTH TO 2 WEEKS OLD
The infants neck muscles are strengthening so infants head may be wobbly. The infant will be extra sensitive to noises as he gets use to the environmental noises. His vision is developing so he will focus more on your face during feedings. The infant will primarily eat and sleep during this stage. Photo is owned by Kimberly Allen
