The Second Prison
The upper part of Alcatraz (second prison) is built. They would also start to build buildings on the Island. -
The Slow Evolution of Alcatraz
The guns and batteries were now all removed. The military changed the fort now into a military prison. The army prisoners would then build most of the buildings on the Island. -
The Third Prison
The third prison is built on Alcatraz. This was built by the prisoners on the Island. This is where all the future prisoners will be kept. -
The Best of the Best
The military prison was later turned into a federal prison. this was the first maximum security prison with minimal privilege. Alcatraz at the time to have highest security in the prison system. -
The Impossible
What was thought to be impossible. Theodore Cole and Ralph Roe have managed to escape. The officers assumed they died but no bodies were found. -
Another escape
Frank Morris and the brothers of John and Clarence Anglin managed to escape Alcatraz. There was a fourth man named Alen West but he could not fit through his cell hole. The officers on Alcatraz again thought they died but no bodies were ever found. -
Its Been to Long
Alcatraz shuts down after 29 years. This was because the prison was to expensive to operate and handle. With each prisoner costing ten dollars and the building was falling apart from the salt water ruining the pipes and walls. -
What Alcatraz Deserves
Alcatraz was then marked a national part of history. Alcatraz also became a national landmark. Till this day it is one of the most notorious prisons in history.
