Alan Alda

  • Biography

    Was born in New York and is the son of Robert Alda, Alan's father was already an accomplished actor and began acting at the age of 16 years old. Alan studied in Fordham University, while attending in Europe performed alongside his father on T.V in Amsterdam. Not to mention maintained a 20 year membership with the Board of Museum of Television and Radio (1989-199) and many more achievements to mount as a successful individual in society.
  • Equal Rights Amendment Organizations and Charities

    Alan Alda has been supporting cause for equal rights for 40 years by helping organization and charities aimed towards them. This was the creation of a law to help protect women against sexual discrimination legally. This is an act anyone could do and with many individuals doing so make a greater impact towards gender equality. Won't deny that having someone with a reputation like Alan alone can create a larger impact than most. The continued long term support for this cause is inspiring.
  • The woman who stormed the Roman Senate for the right to wear the color purple

    Dictating a color specific to genders, in this case the male color. Alan called this “Testosterone poisoning” and paraphrasing Alan, emphasizing that just because there are roots doesn’t mean nothing can be done about it. Reason I decided on something so seemingly silly is to address just how something so simple was stigmatized and shamed. Any person should be allowed to wear what they want regardless of there sex
  • Alan Alda and Betty Ford on the frontline for the assault for ERA ratification

    Betty Ford and Alan Alda together also aided in the last push for the ratification of the ERA. Both of them being established aided by using there influence as icons to help people rally behind for gender equality. Having someone famous actively support a movement can move people to willing stand and support with them. Value gained from this movement was considerable to aiding this righteous goal.
  • Stony Brook’s Alda Center

    Being honored enough to have an establishment named after oneself is quite a feet. Specifically one aimed at continuing Alans beliefs and support towards gender equality. The establishment of this facility is something that will continuously aid towards Alan Alda's cause that may even do so once he is no longer around. Having a living legacy can be quite helpful in making roots and supporting those views he fought to support and maintain.
