Algerian Civil War
The conflict between the Algerian government and several rebel groups led to a civil war within the country. When the national Liberation front cancelled the elections it removed the president from power. The GIA which is the Armed Islamic group rebelled against the government and murdered innocent people all so they can overthrow the government. -
Seperation from GIA
The GSPC seperated themselves from the Armed Islamic Group. They left because they thought the brutal tactics were hurting the Islamic cause. The group formed more and became larger because more people came together. -
GSPC is formed
The group broke away from the AIG (1992-2000) they left because they believed in a more pure interpretation of the Koran. They also believed to take the government they must attack the Algerian militants more for the civilians. -
