Gore's First Environmental Step
Al Gore, after joining the house of representatives, held the first congressional hearings on climate change. -
He Wins
He runs for a spot for the US Senate and becomes a Senator for Tennessee. -
Public Articles
In 1989, Al Gore, while still senator, published an editorial in the Washington Post in which he argued, "Humankind has suddenly entered into a brand new relationship with the planet Earth. The world's forests are being destroyed; an enormous hole is opening in the ozone layer. Living species are dying at an unprecedented rate." -
The First Summit
In 1990, Al Gore proposed the Global Marshall Plan which consists of five strategic goals:
- stabilizing of world population
the rapid development of environmentally appropriate technologies
- a comprehensive change in the economic "rules of the road" by which we measure the impact of our decisions on the environment
- negotiation & approval of a new generation of international agreements
- a cooperative plan for educating the world's citizens about our global environment. -
Election Season
Al Gore is chosen by Bill Clinton to run as Vice President while Clinton ran for president. They won the election in 1993 -
GLOBE
The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program is a worldwide hands-on, science and education program focusing on the environment, now active in over 120 countries worldwide. It works to promote the teaching and learning of science, enhance environmental literacy and stewardship, and promote scientific discovery. -

Al Gore co-launched Generation Investment Management, a company which he serves as a chair. -

Re-power America
Gore gave a speech at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. in which he called for a move towards replacing a dependence upon "carbon-based fuels" with Green energy by the United States within the next ten years. -
Rampal power plant
In a plenary session of the 47th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos of Switzerland on January 18, 2017, Al Gore urged Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina to stop building the coal-powered Rampal Power Station close to the largest mangrove forest, Sundarbans.
