  • Played Atrai 260

It was the first time I saw an Atari 2600 game console. This year was critical to me, and I remember it vividly. Although I didn't own the Atari myself, I played Pong for the first time at my mother's best friend's home, and it left me feeling excited and full of wonder. She only had two game consoles, pong and skydiver. Skydiver was my favorite.
  • First Computer interaction

I was in high school when computers were first introduced to our school. We were taught to turn them on and off, use a keyboard, and play games. Computers were huge and expensive, costing around $1200 (roughly $3000 today). The idea of having one at home was out of the question, for my family's yearly salary was only $23,000. At this time, I was indifferent to them. There was not much you could do with one.
  • Got a pager

My spouse received a pager from work. This was amazing and left me feeling so connected. We were expecting our first child and used codes to prevent unnecessary stops and visits to a pay phone. The 911 code meant I was in paid labor and to come home immediately, and 411 meant I only had information to give him, and all was okay. It all felt so advanced.
  • First Cell phone

I purchased my first cell phone plan and received the Motorola Timeport 280 with 200 minutes, no data, roaming charges, and no texting; it was just minutes to call in case of an emergency. I remember feeling so safe and connected.
  • First Smart Phone

My first smartphone was a Galaxy A. It was like a mini handheld computer with games, Google, and social media apps in my pocket and at my fingertips. It made my laptop almost irrelevant. With unlimited data and calling abilities,Video calls used to be a thing of the future, something we only saw in cartoons, but now it was a reality for me.
