USWNT (US Women's National Team) was founded by The United States Soccer Federation. They also compete in CONCACAF (the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football). -

First ever World Cup
The U.S. team won the first ever Women's World Cup in 1991. They have also won the 1999 Women's World Cup and four Olympic women's gold medals in 1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012 -
Their honors and achievements
The are currently ranked first in the world by the FIFA Women's World Rankings. The team was selected as the U.S. Olympic Committee's Team of the Year in 1997 and 1999. Sports Illustrated chose the entire team as its 1999 Sportspeople of the Year. -
Mia and Michelle
Mia Hamm and Michelle Akers (two of US womens super stars in 2004) were the only two women and the only two Americans named to the FIFA 100 which is a list of the 125 greatest living soccer players.They were said to have started a revolution for US womens sports. -
New Coach Greg Ryan
The U.S. Women started off the year with a new coach and a third consecutive Algarve Cup title, their fourth overall. They ended the year undefeated and without allowing a SINGLE GOAL. -
Alex Morgan
She was drafted number one overall in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash (her club team). She was the youngest player on the USA's roster at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup. She scored a game winning goal at the 2012 London Olympics in the 123rd minute against Canada. -
Pia Sundhage leaves team
The head coach of the team for the last five years, announced that she is leaving her position. After their upcoming games against Australia on September 16 and 19, Sundhage went home to Sweden to coach their national team. -

He came to the US with experience in both the men’s and women’s game. He coached all over the world at the end of his professional career. -
Hope Solo"s contributions
She has started in goal for the team at every age level of the U.S. National Team program. She played every minute of the 2012 Olympics and put on a great performance on the biggest of stages in the 2-1 gold medal game victory against Japan.
