Birth of Napoleon
Napoleon was born August 15 1769, on an island in the Mediterranean sea. He grew up heating France due to the fact that he lived through the conquering of Corsica. -
Becoming an Officer
At the age of 9 Napoleon's parents sent him to France to join the military academy. After 7 years of rigorous training, he graduated from the school at age 16 with a wealth of knowledge in the fields of leading, and military experience. -

Coup d'etat
Coup d'etat is the seizure of power. Napoleon used this short spurt of power to take action on November 1799. At the time of this coup France was still in a war, eventually do to diplomacy all three nations in the war signed a peace agreement with France. Napoleon was once again marked as a hero in France. -

The Napoleonic code reflected on the Enlightenment principles. For example, the equality of citizens come before the law. The Napoleonic code got rid of most of the women's rights, that they just fought for in the revolution. Napoleon valued order instead of individual rights. -
Napoleons Coronation
Napoleon's coronation happened in France. In the midst of his coronation Napoleon took the crown out the Pope's hands and he placed the crown upon his head. By Napoleon ripping the crown out of the pope's hand he wanted to show that nobody owed the throne besides him. Napoleon allowed people to have some say in the government but most of the power was his. -

Battle of Trafalgar
The Battle of Trafalgar was a war between France and Britain. Britain at the time had a very small army that was on the land, since Britain was surrounded by a lot of water they mostly relied on their navy to protect them from invaders. The Battle of Trafalgar took place southwest of Spain. The British met France and ended up bringing them to their knees. -
The Battle of Wagram
After Napoleon's battle in 1805 against the Austro-russians they wanted revenge, against the French. Napoleon's army bigger and stronger once again defeated the Austro-russians. Since, the Austro-russians were losing so badly they ended up having to sign a peace treaty which gave France Austrian land the was populated by more than 3 million subjects. -
Joseph Bonaparte becomes King of Spain
Napoleon at the time ruled most of Europe, and it was normal for Napoleon to put friends and family to the throne. In Spain, Napoleon ended up putting his brother Joseph in at throne. Joseph also forced alliances on European powers from Madrid to Moscow. Expanding European powers, so the European empire can rule everything. -
Invasion of Russia Pt 1
Napoleon invaded Russia with 600,000 men and 500,000 horses.The Russians headed eastward so they wouldn't have to fight, and on their journey they burned down crops and villages. Napoleon entered Moscow in September, while he realized that he wouldn't have enough food to feed his soldiers. In October Napoleon and his army started to head home. By the end of their journey home Napoleon's once great army ended up having only 20,000 soldiers when they got home. -

Battle of the Nations at Leipzig
The French were very weak due to the disaster in Russia, which ultimately lead to the alliances of Russia, Prussia, Britain, and Austria. Since the alliance definitely had the upper hand, they ended up defeating Napoleon in the Battle of the Nations at Leipzig. -
Napoleon's Exile to Elba
Napoleon stepped down from power a year after his defeat in Leipzig. The victors of the Battle of the Nation's exiled Napoleon to Elba, an island in the Mediterranean. After his exile, the people of France appointed King Louis XVIII, the brother of King Louis XVI, as ruler. -
Napoleon's Return
During King Louis XVIII's rule he failed to keep things running smoothly. Yes he agreed to keep Napoleonic code in tack and honor the landmarks made during the revolution, but he had one main flaw. This was the weakness towards the emigres which ultimately lead to the disruption of France's economy. Through all of this, the loyalty towards Napoleon began to rekindle, which gave the King a very good reason to escape France after Napoleon escaped his exile. -
Battle of Waterloo
Napoleon's rise to fame again was short lived. In the town of Waterloo in Belgium two rival armies met. One was the French and the other was the tag team of Britain and Prussia. The French armies were not only smoked in this battle, but it also lead the the exile of Napoleon. This time he would not escape. -

Napoleon’s exile to St. Helena
After the one day long battle at Waterloo, Napoleon was once again exiled. This time to St. Helena, a lonely island in the South atlantic. Here he would spend his last years of life, until 1821 when he died.
