Estates-General is called together
The Estates General was called to discuss the issues in each estate. The Estates General was called together because the King had fired Jacques Necker resulting in him calling them in so that all three estates could vote on their problems. The Estates General was made up of representatives from the each estate. It's significant to the French Revolution because the 3rd estate saw them loosing the vote every time so they just created their own government causing the French Revolution to be born. -
King and Queen are taken to Paris
People of Paris became outraged with how the King and Queen did not acknowledge the problems that were arising. It happened because there was a rumor that the when the Queen was told about the people not having food she said let them eat cake. The people that were involved were these Fish woman and some others who stormed Versailles. It was significant to the French revolution because the King was then taken as a prisoner for 3 years in Paris and the people wanted him to see how they lived life -
The Reign of Terror
This period of time was filled with a great amount of violence. The Terror happened because people became scared of lists and if you were named a traitor you were put on the guillotine. The people that were in involved with The Reign of Terror was two groups called the Girondin's and the Jacobins. Robespierre was also involved. This was significant to the French revolution because so much blood was shed and it also was supposed to strike fear in the hearts of people of the Revolution -
The Big Defeat
This was Napoleon's first and biggest defeat in career as a general. Napoleon took 600,000 troops to conquer Russia so that there is more land for France. Napoleon and his 600,000 troops invaded Russia they responded with the Scorched Earth policy as the French followed Russia would burn everything in their path. Winter hits and he is forced to retreat and only makes it back with 20,000 troops and his reputation is shattered. This caused theFrench to exile him and bring monarchs back. -
Congress of Vienna
The Congress of Vienna was created after Napoleon was defeated at Waterloo. The created it because they wanted to have a balance of power, make peace, and to stop the nationalism that was happening. The Congress was made up of Austria, Prussia, Russia, and Great Britain, these four defeated Napoleon and that is why they were in the Congress of Vienna. Once the Congress was put into action monarchs were put back on the throne and power was balanced out.
