Advertisements in my life

  • My birthday

  • Club Penguin

I never actually had a Club Penguin account, but remember wanting one whenever I saw the ads.

  • Hot wheels

The first mainstream toy I remember having. I remember seeing these cars advertised and really wanting one (I really had a good collection).

  • Lego Stuff

Can't really add an exact year to this but I was super into Lego when I was a kid, especially Lego Star Wars. I had a ton of lego, way more than Hot Wheels. These ads definitely made me feel excited.

  • Nerf Guns

Nerf guns contended with Lego for the top-spot-toy of my childhood. I had (and never got rid of) so many guns. My friends and I would have literal battles in my house. It was like paintball for kids. Loved them.

  • Lego Minifigures

    Lego Minifigures
Lego made these collectible mini-figures that came in little plastic bags that made it so you couldn't see what you were buying, and therefore was part of the surprise. I really loved them and spent a lot of my allowance on them. I also got really good at figuring out which ones were in which bag by feeling out the pieces inside. (there are no television ads for these mini-figures but you would see posters of them in shops.
  • iPod

I had a little iPod (I think it was like 2 GBs) when I was like 11ish and always remember the ads and thinking it was super duper cool.
  • Canon Rebel T5i

    Canon Rebel T5i
Again, I never saw any ads for this on the tv, but definitely saw a lot of photos in camera stores and whatnot. It was my first camera.
  • A&W

A&W started making these "Better Tasting Burger" ads when I was about 12/13 and I remember them really well (they always look so fantastic). They still make the ads today and I still eat the burgers, so they're probably working (also the burgers are organic and whatnot).

  • Ski touring

Around 2016 is when I started to get into ski touring and as a result started looking at reviews and ads for what I should get. Whatever looked the best is what I ended up getting, so although I don't have a particular brand (as ski touring requires a lot of stuff) ads definitely effected what I bought.
  • Fujifilm X-T1

Around this time I was really advancing in my photography and started looking for more of a technical camera to use that was better quality. I settled on the Fujifilm X-T1 because:
    1. They had just come out with the X-T2 and as a result, the X-T1 was significantly cheaper.
    2. The reviews were great.
    3. The advertising on the website was fantastic, and I'm gonna guess that subconsciously it made me want it more. http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/x/fujifilm_x_t2/

  • TGS

Not only did TGS sound like a fantastic opportunity, it also has a fantastic website with great photos and information, which made me want to explore it more.
  • Peak Design Backpack

As soon as I saw the ad for this backpack I wanted it. It is incredibly well done and they do a fantastic job of showcasing the backpack. I have it now and it lives up to the expectations.
