Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

    Huck resists being taught because he feels as if it’s pointless, and religion because he feels that is complete hypocrisy because Miss Watson, who calls herself a Christian, displays the opposite characteristics from Christianity. This attempt at civilization only pushes him farther into becoming his somewhat ignorant, unabashed, and adventurous self.

  • The Boys

    Huck and Tom Sawyer create their group of robbers. They mostly just talk about what they’re going to do and who they’re going to kill, even though they’re a pretty harmless group that doesn’t hurt anyone. The most trouble they seem to get into is when Huck sneaks out and pranks Jim while he is sleeping.

    Huck finds boot marks in the woods and knows who they are and becomes incredibly terrified. He then comes home and finds his father “Pap” and Huck knows this is trouble.

    Huck is taken by his father who brings him to this shack. Life there isn’t great and one night Pap chases Huck around the cabin and tries to beat him. So Huck escapes on a canoe down the river but leaves pig blood everywhere in the cabin to fake his death.

    When he arrives on the island Huck watches the rest of the town attempt to find his body. He then surprisingly meets the slave Jim, who he pranked earlier. Jim is now a runaway slave. Huck decides to help Jim acquire his freedom.

    Jim begs Huck that he will not turn Jim in. Hearing this, Huck decides to help Jim acquire his freedom.

    Huck and Jim set off down the river after finding out that people are looking for them on the island. One night it becomes incredibly foggy and they become separated. When separated Huck stays with the Grangerfords and witnesses the death of his new friend Buck.
  • The Duke and the Dauphin

    Huck finds Jim and they are reunited on the water. Soon after, they come across the “Duke and the Dauphin” who are con artists who pretend to be royalty. They join up with the conmen, which seems to be a poor decision. These two con artists perform lots of scams, including one where they attempt to take a large amount of money, but it is in a man named Peter Wilk's grave.
  • Huck decides to free Jim

    Huck, who is in the clear to flee with Jim from the two con men, finds out that Jim has been sold and sits and cries. After some thought, he decides he will go find Jim and free him from his new owners, and after deciding he wouldn't write a letter to send Jim back to his original owner and instead free Jim, which at the time would be a sin, he says: “All right then, I’ll go to Hell.”
  • Uncle Silas and Aunt Sally

    Huck finds where Jim has been taken, which is coincidentally the farm of Tom Sawyers’ aunt and uncle, the Phelps. The Phelps, in a mixup, believes that Huck is Tom Sawyer and welcomes him in. This causes Tom to have to pretend to be a boy named Sid. To get Jim out of the Phelps’ shed, Tom schemes up an elaborate plan of writing a letter pretending to be robbers coming to take Jim. It doesn’t work out as they planned but they get Jim free and escape some angry farmers. who shoots Tom.
  • Tom Needs a Doctor

    Huck, Tom, and Jim all head off to an island, but Tom, although thrilled he got shot in the leg, needs help from a doctor. Huck canoes back to the town to get a doctor for Tom’s leg, but then runs into Silas Phelps, who proceeds to take him back to his home. Huck is stranded in their home because he cannot break his promise to Aunt Sally and leave again.

    Uncle Silas looks for Tom (Sid) but to no avail, and then he comes barging in, semi-conscious, with a large group of people, which includes the doctor and a now chained Jim. There are men in the group who are treating Jim roughly and want to hang him for being a runaway slave. The doctor intervenes and tells how Jim has stayed with Tom in order to nurse him back to health.

    After a while, Tom awakes, and seeing how poorly Jim is being treated explains that Jim has been a free man all along because Miss Watson set him free in her will. Tom gives Jim $40 for being good fun the whole time. Jim's dream of being "rich" is fulfilled.

    Aunt Polly comes and explains that the boys have been lying about their names and that Sid is the real Tom Sawyer. Huck also comes to know that the man in the floating house who was dead, was his father and that is why Jim covered his face. Soon after, Tom explains to Huck that his aunt and uncle plan on adopting Huck, but after having enough of the attempts of civilization from Miss Watson, he instead plans to head out west immediately.
