Here is my project for the top ten advancements in computer history.

This hard drive had fifty 24 inch disks and had a storing capacity of 5 MB. However, this item cost over $1,000,000. This is important because it created a secondary memory that allowed for 5 MB of storage. This allowed for the hard drive advancements that eventually allowed for the hard drives of today.

The computer mouse allowed for computer users to interface with the GUI much more easily, therefore making computers easier to use. This was important because our average desktop computer cannot function without a mouse. If we did not have mouses, we would have a much harder time interfacing with the computer.

This allowed for a portable, permanet storage of data. This alowed for data to be transfered between two computers. I think this is important because it helped along the portable secondary storage advancements, and gave people and easy way to transport data between computers.

The first portable computer, with most of the capabilitys of a normal computer, is released. This is important because it allows for the development of computers that can be used anywhere, anytime.

This piece of equipment allows two micro computers to share data over a phone line. I think that this was important because this was a link to the internet, allowing two persons at two different locations to share data without having to travle to that other location.

The GUI allowed users to see what they were doing, as opposed to having to read text. I think that this was very important because it made computers much more user friendly, allowing the average person, like you or me, to use a computer.

The word processing program "Word Perfect" allows you to type onto the computer, change the font, and other new things to text. I think that this is really important because it was the start of one of our major word processing programs today. Without it, we would only have pages, and maybe not even that.

This allows for a way to connect everybody, and an easier way to find information. I think that this is important because our sociaty has essencially built itself from the internet. WIthout it, we would have a less developed sociaty.

HotMail allws for computer users to send messages to each other through E-mail, making it much easier to exchange data. I think that this is important because HotMail was one of the first E-mail systems. This means that we could make E-mail much more user freindly with this type of program.

This is a search engine to find a specific website. It takes key words and matches up certain websites with those words. I think that this is important because without google, we would not have an easy and quick access to information and videos that entertain us.
