1. Creative ideas and scheduling (HW)
• First of all you will need to decide as a group on a suitable track. It must be on digital format and it must be an original piece of music (made by you / friends), or an album track from an existing artist, and must not have an existing music video. You can choose any band / artiste, any musical style (dance, hip hop, rock, pop, gospel, bhangra etc.) and for any audience. Come to a general agreement about a track with potential for an interesting video. Choose a song with words that can b -
Research/ case studies (HW)
Gather 3 case studies of existing music videos that relate to your idea in terms of genre / style, content and role of performance. Take detailed notes using the following structure. Always give a full reference (producer, title, channel, date, time). You can use the case studies you did in the summer for this.
• Synopsize the video
• Is the video conceptual, narrative or performance based? How / why?
• Themes and motifs
• Representations of stars / artistes including authorage, role of perfor -
Treatment
The next stage is to write a treatment (a rough plan of what you intend to do). It should be short (roughly one side) and it should sell your ideas. Your research will help you to decide on appropriate content and the ways in which you will film it. You could also look over the lyrics of the song for ideas or you could just listen to the track over and over again until you come up with some ideas. Whatever method you adopt, make sure you include
• A summary of the narrative idea and how it -
Focus groups/ pitch
You need to do some initial pre-production audience feedback on your idea and treatment. This is to ensure the audience are clearly targeted and to make any changes before preparing more detailed pre-production documents. You will also be assessed for this audience feedback in your Research and Planning and Evaluation grades. These focus groups /pitches will take place in class during the week commencing 14th September 2015. Write an evaluation of the audience feedback including any changes y -

Pre-production
Once your treatment has been approved by your teacher and from audience feedback, you will need to draw up a detailed storyboard. This will be your shot-by-shot guide during filming, and from this you should be able to visualize the action. You will need to plan each shot to the second, giving a full description of proposed locations, camera size, position and angles, action, lighting, and timing. You only have 3 opportunities to shoot the action so make sure that what you propose to do is p -

Shooting the Video
You have three weeks to shoot the video, and three filming opportunities, which include one weekend. We suggest you try to get all your filming done on the weekend, and use the other two sessions as contingencies. You need to give technicians at least 48 hours notice of booking using a booking form. If you fail to turn up for filming and have not given notice of cancellation, you may miss that opportunity to film.
A few top tips for filming:
• Film the lead singer lip synching to the whole so -

Editing
You will be scheduled to attend editing training with the media technicians before you have finished filming. Wherever possible your training will be during class time. You MUST attend the training session allocated to you or you will be unable to complete your production. Editing will be done mainly outside of class time, and you have three weeks to edit. This is plenty of time, but it is your responsibility to book times with the technician, starting early on. -

Case studies (individual work)
find three examples of current CD digipacks for existing music promos of similar genres / styles to your own video. Find three accompanying magazine adverts for similar digipaks. Take notes on use of images (shot type / framing / angle, body language, lighting, airbrushing / effects, representation of the artist / band), text used and its placement, combination of image and text, promotional methods used, and how you can use / subvert these in your own CD digipack and magazine advert. • Pitch your print ideas to the class and your teacher, in your groups. These will take place on the week commencing 30th November 2015.

Post-production feedback

(individual) Using PhotoShop / InDesign, you will produce the two print artefacts
. Each group member should produce their own version of a digipack and advert, although you may use the same photography. Take regular print screens and blog your progress. The digipak should include a minimum 4 panes- front and back cover, spine and at least two inside inserts. Once you have created a digital version of the digipack, you should put it together and print it out. Photograph the hard copy for upload to your blog alongside the digital version -
Evaluation
There are two options for your evaluation. The first option is to produce an individual creative evaluation, in which you choose a range of creative digital technologies to present your answers. These might include prezi, bounceapp, spiderscribe, infogram, flickr, annotated YouTube videos, podcasts, videos, vlogs, slideshares, thinglink, glogster, or any more creative techs you find. The key is that you should chose techs which are appropriate to your response. The second option is to produce -
