    Albany Plan of Union
    This wa to prevent stress and pressure on the colonies in the event of a war. The colonists weren’t affected by this because it was turned down by British officials when they saw that it could create a power too great for the British to control.

  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The reason for the French and Indian war was for the control of the rivers and seas around the 13 colonies. This affected the colonist because many people died including many generals. Edward Braddock died because of it.
  • Writs of Assistance

    Before the French and Indian war ended, Great Brit decided to heighten the level of control over the stem trade between colonies. This made the people begin to smuggle all of their tradings. The british began to crack down on the people not allowing them to trade at all. The british wanted more money on the traded items so they taxed all imports/ exports. This affected the colony because the people began to question the king.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    A parliament was passed called the sugar act. The goal for Great Britain was to gather 100,000 pounds through taxing molasses per gallon, sugar, and wine. Later they began taxing more items. This affected the colonist because they had to pay extra for their items, fill out extensive reports, and legalize all items on the ship.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Although the sugar act did raise lots of amounts of money for the brits, they still wanted more. The average person paid 25 shillings in taxes per year. This act required colonist to pay tax on all printed items that had paper. This even included playing cards. All people that had violated the terms where executed. The brits had financial problems. So the people protested saying that they wanted to be represented in the Motherland if they were going to pay taxes like this.
  • Townshead Acts

    Townshead Acts
    This act was to allow a drawback of customs during the exportation of goods from the kingdom. Items such as coffee and cocoa nuts were affected by this and were prevented from one colony to another, along with other products.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    The patriots were rioting against the Loyalist and the Red coats and five people were shot. This affected the colonist becuase they made a big deal about it and it started the revolutionary war.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The reason for the Tea Act was the colonists didn't believe in having tax on tea so they dumped about 1 million dollars worth of tea, into the boston harbor.
    How is affected the colonists: This affected the colonists by them not having tea to drink
    What happened as a result: the event as a result of their reaction was making the Tea Act.

    The reason for the Boston Tea Party was because the people wanted to protest on the taxing of tea so they threw 1.2 million dollars worth of tea into the Boston Harbor. This affected the colonist because it was one of the bigger acts that made the revolutionary war big.
  • Olive Brach Petition

    The revolutionary war caused the colonies to write a petition to the king to address their grievances. The colonist were not affected by this because it was never seen by the King. So the matter was not adressed.
  • Coercive Act

    Coercive Act
    The act the Boston Tea Party and other acts to British property by American colonists.
    How the colonists were affected: The port of Boston was shut down, meaning that hundreds of people lost their jobs. Massachusetts was restricted from democratic town meetings and the council was turned into an appointed body.
    What happened as a result of this: The colonists sent supplies to the affected areas and began forming their own congresses to negotiate the amount of control the British had.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The british wanted to drive the americans out of their locations, that overlooked the city. This affected the colonists by making the Americans fight back, yet they won.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    This was the first war in the 13 colonies which started the American Revolution. This was also the first battle won and lost to the British. Also known as the shot heard around the world. This was affecting the colonist because they were fighting for their rights and their land.
  • Decleration of Independence

    Decleration of Independence
    The people in the 13 colonies wanted to be free. They signed a document stating that they wanted the freedom from Great Britain. This included Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson. This affected the colonist because they became free and was allowed to own their own land and not be taxed from across the world. The Decleration of Independence was actually signed on the second.
  • Continental Congress

    To make sure that the king and parliament knew of the grievances of the colonists and to be able to thoroughly communicate with the colonies and the world.
    How the colonists were affected: The colonists were affected by this because they were able to receive information on current events.
    What happened as a result of this: The colonists were able to act on current events faster than they normally would be able to.
  • Second Continental Congress

    This was to discuss the battles of Lexington and Concord, on that day. The colonist were affected by this because it was giving the patriots plans on what to do if they see the British invade.
