Wagner Act
Also known as the National Labor Relations Act. It addressed realtionship between unions and employers in the private secotr. It enagage in collectiver bargaining for better terms and conditions at work. -
Fair Labor Standards Act
The FLSA introduced the forty- hour work week. Established a national minumum wage guaranteed "time-and-a-half" for overtime in certain jobs, and prohibited most employment of minors in "oppressive child labor" a term that is defined in the statue. -
Equal Pay Act
Men and women working for the same organization doing the equal work must recieve equal pay. -
Title VII of the Civil Right Act
Applies to employers with 15 or more employees- prohibits discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, and national origion- Established the EEOC. -
Age Discrimination in Employent Act
Applies to employers with 20 or more emoplyees- prohibits discrimination based on age of those 40 and older -
Pregnancy Discrimination Act
Requaires employers to treat pregnancy as another medical condition- prohibits discrimination during the hiring process. -
Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, amended in 2008
Prohibitts discrimination against person with disabilities- Defiines disability and requiarments for reasonable accomodation. -
Civil Rights Act
Increases the employer's burden of proof in disparate impact and disparate treatment cases- sets limits for compensatory and punitive damages.
