Kozani has a population of approximately 50.000 people. Similarly I suggest that we should follow the example of how the island of Tilos faced the refuges according to the text “A refugee’s Dreamland” As a result, i believe our city could host a generous amound of refugees. I think that approximately 50 refugees would be okay, as there isn't a lot of spare space in our city to be offered. -
2. Accomodation
However, the problem of accomodation can be created instantly. A great idea on how to accommodate these refugees would be that abandoned houses and buildings could be offered to refugees' families. Additionally, as its was quoted in the text "A refugees «Dreamland» " a purpose-build camp could really contribute to the issue of accomodation of these refugees. Even though that not many properties are able to be offered for such accommodation this idea could really be taken into consider -
3. The kind of enterpreneurship that can be developed
I believe that in cases similar to these there are many ways that citizens can help. To begin with people who work in fields could invite them to help in farming such as in Velvendo or in Safran. Moreover, women could offer their ability of work at restaurands or as cleaning stuff or even as waiterses at cafés, bars etc. Lastly, another great idea would be if the refugees helped at the local schools that their children may be going. They could clean the classrooms or work at the school cantine. -
4. The ways your school can help.
Similarly to the things quoted on the above events, schools are really a great way to help the refugees and their children as well. Teachers should encourage students to accept the young refugees as their friends. However the parents or the employees at the school should not distinguish among children. Either refugees or the one’s raised in the city. Furthermore, people could donate old clothes, toys and even food that they might have spare for the families of the refygees. -
5.The potential benefits for local community.
On an another note, our community would potentialy be benefited. Firstly, people could learn to work better together and learn about other cultures as well. For instance, the kids could explain on each other the customs and tradition that each have. In addition, Kozani could receive more fame and tourism than it does nowdays and as a result it could be an advantage for the city’s economy.
