  • First telephones

    In 1894 Teledex introduced the first ever telephone in a hotel room. This new invention made it possible for people to have their own private phone calls in their rooms while on holiday or travelling making it easier for them to contact friends and family while away. Having this new invention meant that the hotels were developing and so was technology encouraging more people to stay at a hotel with a phone in the room.
  • Credit cards

    In 1946 the first ever credit cards were allowed to be used in a hotel by Westin. Having this new perk meant that travellers could have less hastle and stress while travelling and would have a quicker and easier way of payment. This new way of payment in hotels eventually lead to the Diners Club Cards in 1950 which encouraged more travel and use of these new inventions.
  • Robots

    Robots were first invented in the early 1950s by George C. Devol. Robots help to do tasks and jobs that humans can do and even more. Certain robots have aided wheelchair users at the olympic games Tokyo 2020. There have been robots in same hotels that serve and deliver food and drink to guests making service faster and the robots becoming more popular. The robots are able to show people to their seats and provide event information to tourists making them gain popularity as they develop more.
  • Artificial Intelligence

    AI was first founded between 1950-1956 by Alan Turing. AI is being developed more and has been used for many purposes for attractions using this technology to enhance the experiences. AI has been used for pop up shopping in Westfield, for cultural heritage which uses AI inorder to find challenges in society. The AI is used in attractions such as in the Dali Museum they have an produced of Salvador Dali who interacts with the tourists and talks to them all through AI.
  • Virtual Reality

    The VR was found in 1968 by Ivan Sutherland and Bob Sproull. The VR has a big impact on the attractions including technology as it provides a more realistic experience and is evolving to a better social interaction, games and a good story. The VR is starting to be used by places such as theme parks, historical castles, museums and indoor and outdoor experiences to provide a better experience for tourists.
  • Keycard door lock

    In 1976 the first ever keycard door lock was invented by Tor Sørnes, it was called the VingCard. This was a new invention for all hotels and accommodation and everyone wanted to be apart of the new discovery. Having these meant that guests had less hastle getting into their rooms and was less fuss than having to find and use a proper key, instead they were able to swipe the keycard in less than seconds making it easier and a less time consuming tasks for guests.
