Aborigines claim citizen rights
Aborigines make a national protest. A document called Aborigines claim citizen rights was circulated. During the celebration of 150 years of so-called progress it highlighted historical injustices and appealed for justice, decency and fair play. For aborigines it was a Day of Mourning. -
Freedom riders demand equal treatment
Aboriginal activists made a bus ride through NSW protesting about discrimination in shops, theatres, bars clubs and swimming pools. -
White voters demand a better deal
90% of white voters voted Yes to giving Indigenous Australians the right to vote and be counted in censuses and ended the protection policies (segregation) of the past. -

The Embassy said that blacks would now fight back on issues of health education and police victimisation. -
