Spanish invaders came to Mexico and they tasted chocolate for the first time. They brought back cacao beans back to Spain. -

The aztecs and mayans used cacao beans for money they also made a chocolate drink with it it was not a sweet drink in fact it was bitter they called it "bitter water." -

To make chocolate the mayans use cacao seeds in a cacao pod the seeds haft to be dried, roasted, and ground to be used for chocolate.
