Introduction
On a "dark and stormy night" Meg, her brother, and her mom were awake in the kitchen. Soon an old lady named Mrs. Watsit shows up in their house to use it as refuge from the storm, on her way to her house. Mrs. Watsit tells Mrs. Murry that "there’s a tesseract", whatever she means by that. Then Mrs. Watsit leaves -
Plot Summary 1
After being called to the office at school to have a bit of a heated debated with the principle relating to her being upset about her missing father, Meg and her special child prodigy type younger brother Charles Wallace meet a fourteen year old red head boy walking in the woods named Calvin. They become friends and investigate an old scary shack of a house, where they met Mrs. Who, who told them that their time is soon or something, then she told the kids to go home. -
Plot Summary 2
The three headed back to Meg's house. It is established that Meg's father has been gone for years, and he is a physicist, who is supposedly working for the government. Then the three kids walk outside again, but Mrs. Watsit and her two friends Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which show up and teleport the three kids to a different planet. -
Plot Summary 3
The planet that Mrs. Which teleported (or as they call it "tesser" or wrinkle) them to was sort of a Utopian place with a gigantic mountain behind them. -

There it is revealed that the three old ladies are special in that they used to be stars, and they can transform in to amazing creatures, and they are millions of years old. Mrs. -
Plot Summary 5
Watsit transforms into a centaur type thing, which are primarily the creatures that inhabit that planet, and flies the kids up in to the outer atmosphere and shows them a big black evil feeling thing out in space. She tells them that they are trying to fight and defeat that malevolent force, and that it is where Meg's father is. -
Plot Summary 6
The three beings who we know as the old ladies teleport them a planet where a different loving old lady with a crystal ball type thing shows them things like the big black ominous evil thing is near Earth. That reinvigorated Meg to go do something about it. So, the three old ladies teleported them to a planet called Camazotz. -
Plot Summary 7
Mrs. Watsit, Who, and Which announced to them that they are unable to accompany them on Camazotz, so they give them tools they might need. Camazotz is a planet where all the people live in a simultaneous rhythmic manner with each other. After asking people, who became suspicious of the three children, they went in a huge building, and confronted a man with red eyes, who basically sat on a modern day equivalent to a throne. -

The man with red eyes put Charles under mind control, and Charles Wallace led the Meg and Calvin to Mr. Murry, who was held captive in a clear cylindrical tube, and he couldn’t see out of it. -
Plot Summary 9
Meg remembered the special glasses that Mrs. Watsit gave her in case of emergency, and put them on and was able to reach her father. She saved him and for the time being he could only see if he wore those glasses. -
Plot Summary 10
They made their way over to "IT" and found that "IT"'s pulse was extremely difficult to resist, and that "IT" was what was responsible for controlling all the people who live there to all be so perfectly bland without individuality. "IT" started to take control of them, but Mr. Murry managed to teleport them out of there. They seek refuge at a strange colorless planet, but Charles Wallace was mind controlled and got left behind at Camazots. -
Plot Summary 11
There are strange tall thin tentacled beings on the planet that they teleported to. These peaceful beings don't have eye sight, these things care for and nurture Meg, Calvin, and Mr. Murry (especially Meg, who was somehow put into a short coma from the teleportation). -
Plot Summary 12
Calvin and Mr. Murry converse as Meg is unconscious and Mr. Murry reveals that he and his coworkers have developed teleportation, but it is more of a prototype, and they are inexperienced with it. -
Plot Summary 13
After Meg recovered, Mrs. Watsit, Who, and Which show up in the dining hall, while they were eating breakfast. After heated debate it is decided that Meg should go back for Charles Wallace alone. So, Mrs. Which "tessers" Meg back to Camazotz, and she tells her that "[she] has something that IT doesn't". -
Plot Summary 14
Only once she is in the large dome shaped room in which Charles Wallace and "IT" are in, does she realized that what she has that "IT" doesn’t is love. Meg yells repeatedly to Charles Wallace "I love you!". All the sudden, Meg, Charles Wallace, Calvin, Mr. Murry, and the old ladies are all teleported Earth. -
Conclusion
Mr. and Mrs. Murry have a joyful reconciliation, and they are all happy, but Mrs. Watsit spoke hurriedly "Oh, my darlings, I'm sorry we don't have time to say good-bye to you properly. You see, we have to--" then there was a gust of wind and the three old ladies were gone.
