For over thousands of years, the Aboriginal people lived in Australia. They took care of the land well and only took what they needed. They would never waste any resources and invented many clever creations that were thought to be invented by other people. The land was always treated with care and was looked after well. All of the inventions were put to good use. -

Archaeologists discover the complete skeleton of Mungo Man, an Indigenous Australian who apparently was 6 feet tall. -

Aboriginal Tools
Aboriginal tools were discovered. They were made out of stone and they were all cleverly designed out of nature. These useful tools were environmentally friendly, unlike some of our "modern" tools. -

Aboriginal Maps
Aboriginal maps have been discovered by archaeologists. It has been cleverly carved into stone and it shows the symbols they used. -

Rock Paintings
Rock paintings were discovered by archaeologists. They were pictures of an animal that became extinct 30000 BC. -

In 1770 Captain Cook discovered Australia. Later on, in after the war of Independence, Britain decided to do something that changed the course of history forever. -

The First Fleet first arrived on the shores of Botany Bay on the 24th of January 1788. -
Massacres of Indigenous Australians
Many Indigenous Australians were killed in the many massacres that the British conducted. In general after the British came, it was said that half of the Aboriginal population was killed by the diseases and other threats that the British introduced. -

Federation was an important part of Australian History. It was when Australia became one country after being split as states. -

The End of Stolen Generations
The Stolen Generations had a horrible effect on the Aboriginals. The British took the half caste children and tried to "breed the black out of them". At some point, the English started taking more and more children(now not always half caste) and it was devastating as they treated them badly. Some became slaves, workers and servants. -
Mabo
The Mabo was a plan conducted by Eddie Mabo who challenged the legal system. He fought for the rights for Aboriginal land rights as traditional owners. -
Stolen Generation Sorry Speech
In 2008, Kevin Rudd first gave a sorry speech to the Aboriginal people. Finally, the Indigenous Australians were treated as equals. -
Australia Day Controversy
Australia Day is when the British first arrived in Australia. It was first celebrated in 1853, 50 years after the first fleet arrived. But in 2017, there was an argument about when we should celebrate Australia Day because to the Aboriginals, it is Invasion Day.
