2055 - Current Time
The beginning of the story. We are introduced to our protagonist, Eckels, walking into TIME SAFARI, INC., where Eckels pays to travel back in time to hunt down a T-Rex. We are also introduced to Travis, the tour guide. -

Prehistoric Era - Into the Safari
Eckels, Travis and 2 other men climb aboard the time machine and help Eckels hunt down down the marked T-Rex he paid for. -

Prehistoric Era - Travis explains the rules
Travis tells Eckels that they had to stay on the trail otherwise if they went off, they could cause great amounts of damage to the present because they weren't supposed to be in that time. -

Prehistoric Era - Travis's theory
Travis explains to Eckels, what would happen if they were to go off the trail. His theory is if someone who was not supposed to be in this time, kills something like a mouse that wasn't supposed to die there. Its families would not exist meaning that predators of mice would starve and predators of that predator would also starve and so on. -

Prehistoric Era - Eckels Kills the T-Rex
After the T-Rex appears, everyone wants to leave because the T-Rex was much more enormous than how big Travis thought it was. But while they were sneaking away, the T-Rex saw them and started chasing them. But Eckels eventually shoots it in the chest and kills it right on time as the big tree next to it was supposed to kill it originally. -

Prehistoric Era - Eckels walks off the path
After the T-Rex falls, the team makes their way back to the time machine. When they reach it, Travis notices the dirt on Eckels's shoes and realizes that he walked off the path. -

2055 - Return to the present?
The time machine brings 4 terrified men back to the year 2055. When everyone leaves the machine, Eckels notices drastic changes such as the grammar on the sign. -

2055 - A Sound of Thunder
Travis gets so mad at Eckels about stepping on the butterfly and changing the present, he shoots him, ending Eckels's life.
