Before The Berlin Wall went up. Gerta´s Family was together in East Berlin. -
The Berlin Blockade (History)
The Berlin Blockade. The Berlin Blockade was when Russia cut off all road and rail links to West Berlin. This was form May 1949 to June 24, 1984. Aircraft's came from the US and the UK. -
Supply Stock (History)
Supply Stock. During the cold war supplies including food and every day supplies were very low because the government thought that it would be too risky to take food from other countries besides Berlin. All their supplies were manufactured in east Berlin and sold locally. There weren't many options many peoples dinner contained of sausages, potatoes and carrots. Many foods that the citizens wanted and to be smuggled in on the black marked as sold for high prices. -
Banana (Book)
Stock Market. Gerta wanted to get a Banana From the black market but her mother said it was too risky. -
The Berlin Wall (History)
The Berlin Wall Went up August 13, 1961.The Berlin wall went up between East and West Berlin. The wall was put up so that Western “fascist” out of east Berlin. During the night the Government put up yards of razor sharp barb wire up. After a few days they started building a wall about 11 feet high. The Wall Came down on November 9, 1989. -
Divided (Book)
Gerta’s Family was divided and miserable. Gerta's dad and her younger brother were looking for jobs in West Berlin. Little did they know the Russian government would start to put up barbed wire through the night. -

Gerta and her brother were in the process of building the tunnel to West Berlin , so that her family was reunited. -

John F. Kennedy. John F. Kennedy traveled to Berlin to offer hope to the people living in the divided city.He gave a speech and one of the biggest and impact thing he said was “Lass Sie nach Berlin kommen. Let them come to Berlin.” -
Found (Book)
Gerta and fritz were digging when officer Muller discovered their tunnel. He does not like his job and wants to escape.
