    A. Lincon is Elected
    This was the last straw for the south. Lincon had not won the popular vote, but won the Electoral Collage. This was seen as him not winning the southern vote, but winning the north vote. This is known as the reason SC Seceded from the USA

    Dred Scott Case
    This was the Supreme Court Debate about a slave and his owner. The slave had been traveling with his master in the free-slave states. Scott tried to sue his master, but in the end all of this caused the Supreme Court to allow slavery in all the territories since they had decided that the Missouri Compromise was deemed Unconstitutional.

    The Canning of Charles Sumner
    Senator Preston Brooks beats Charles Sumner with a cane because of words Sumner had spoken about Brooks family and slavery. This divided the North and South even more since the south saw Sumner as insane and the north saw him as a Hero.

    Bleeding Kansas
    After the Kansas territory was allowed to be voted into slavery/no Slavery. Many Slave Owners and Northern's would come into the territory to vote for their own beliefs. This caused blood to be shed at the borders and inside of the Kansas Territory.

    These 5 bills were passed by congress that showed the status (Slave/noslave)of the territories/states required in the Mexico-American war. It made some of the states/terrioties slave states and some non slave, trying to keep the balance of no slave and slave states equal.

    This was one of the worst things Congress could have done at the time. It required that all escaped slaves were, upon capture, to be returned to their masters and that officials and citizens of free states had to cooperate in this law. Also, normal citizens could be taken off the road and would have to be Slave Hunters

    This was an attempt from congress to create peace between the north and south. As the nation grew, the balance between slave and not slave states was not balanced. This compromise was made to try to make everybody happy
