Davinci began to study the history of flight from 1840 (during the Renaissance period). In his time he designed over 100 drawing based on his theory of flight. A notable design is the Ornithopter. -

"The Brothers"
The Montgolfier Brother introduced the hot air ballon to the world, and in 1782 flew an unmanned ballon 6000 feet in the air. THe first passengers to experience flight were a sheep, a rooster, and a duck. -
Manned Flight!
"In 1783 the Montgolfier brothers managed to persuade Pilâtre de Rozier and the Marquis d'Arlandes to became the first people to take part in a manned balloon flight." This flight would be another milestone in the history of human flight. -
Uh oh?
Rozier built his own ballon and in 1785 decided to fly it with his friend Pierre Romain. At 900 meters tha ballon exploded. The two men would become the first to die in aviation history. -
Commercial Flight
Henri Gifford would create the world's first Passenger carrying airship. It could flight at a whopping 9 kilometers an hour. -
George Cayley: The true inventor of the Airplane.
In 1853, George Cayley built a flying machine that could support the weight of a man. Acredited to being the true inventor of the Airplane, in actuallity only really built a hanglider. He died in 1857. -

Orville Wright, was born in Dayton, Ohio, in 1871. -
The Glider.
The Orville Brother's developed a succesful glider which reach a total of 118 metters into the air. Unsatisfied with their results, they built a glider that could go 183 metters the following year. -
Flyer 1
The Orville Brothers, tested their first Airplane, Flyer 1 in 1903. Althought the flight would only last 12 seconds, the heavier than air craft was able to travel 36 meters and 3 metters above the air, a major feat in the history of flying object heavier than Air. -
World War 1
The Airplane initally thought inadequate for war, were simply used as reconnaissance. As the war progressed plane's would become devided into two sections. "The fighter and the bomber." Notable pilots of the war include Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (The Red Baron) and Billy Bishop. Both known for their air vitories -
World War 2
World War 2 would see a drrastic increase in the production and development of airplanes. Erich Warsitz was a German test pilot for the first liquid fuiled Aircraft and would also be the same one to piolet the first Turbojet powered aircraft. A notable battle that took place between aircrafts would be the Battle of Britain. -
