California’s 1907 law provided a model of legislation that other states pursued -
Fresno City College Established
A collegiate "department" of Fresno High School was set up in the fall of 1910 which led to the creation of the oldest existing public community college in California and the second oldest existing public community college in the United States -
Phoenix Junior College Established
Phoenix Union High School District created what would later become Phoenix College as the first community college in the state of Arizona. -
Servicemen's Readjustment Act
Know as the G.I. Bill this law provided returning veterans with the means to attend university, high school, or vocational school and unemployment compensation. -
President's Commission on Higher Education
The Truman report called for vast changes in post-secondary education, including the establishment of public community colleges. -
Arizona Establishes the Public College System
Arizona Legislature authorizes the State Board of Directors for Junior Colleges, supported by county and state funds. -

CGCC opens a 50,000 square foot campus with many amenities. -
Aviation Program Begins at Chandler-Gilbert
CGCC "launches" its aviation training program in the fall of 1988 and was approved by the FAA the following year. -
Chandler-Gilbert receives independent Accreditation
CGCC breaks away from MCC and gains it own Accreditation -
Williams Air Force Base Closes it's Doors
This closure left room for the expansion of the ASU Polytechnic campus and the CGCC Williams campus. -
Williams Campus Opens
With the Williams campus now open the Aviation program moves to this site. -
Sun Lakes Education Center Opens
The building is Dedicated and opened with an emphasis on computer classes for the adult population of the Sun Lakes area -
