Mexico's Independence
After Moses Austin arrived in Texas in 1821, Mexico successfully gained its independence from Spain. -
Slavery Outlawed
Slave owners became angry when Mexico outlawed slavery. -
Population Increased

In 1833, Stephen Austin went to jail because he threatened to brake away. -

Mexican soldiers had orders to seize a cannon used by the Texans for protections against Native Americans. -
Texas Independence

Victory at San Jancinto
Texans were captured while on the retreat by Mexican soldiers and more than 300 were executed while the battle was lost. -
Battle of the Alamo
The battle of the Alamo was over and the Mexicans had won. -

Santa Anna had to sign a treaty giving Texas its freedom and Texas was now a independent nation. -
