The free throw line was invented and placed fifteen feet away fromt the backboard. -
First Intercollegiate 5-on-5 game was played
This game took place at Hamlin University. The teams participating in this game were Hamlin and the School of Agriculture. The School of Agriculture, who won the game 9-3, was affiliated with the University of Minnesota. -
Amount of players on the court
Five players became the standrd and once they were substituted they were not allowed to re-enter the game -
Dribbling
Dribbling was not originally part of the game but in 1901 it was introduced. the player could bounce the ball once but could not shoot after dribbling. -

The first time restriction was that the team was required to advance the ball over the midline within ten seconds. -

The three second vialation
The three second rule was put into place. An offensive player could not stand "on the paint" for more than three seconds. -
First Televised College Basketball Games
In these games, Pittsburgh defeated Fordham, 57-to-37, and New York University beat Georgetown, 50-to-27, at Madison Square Garden. -

The restriction on subsitution was abolished, players were allowed to re-enter the game as many times as they want. -

The shot clock
The shot clock was first put in place in the NBA to increase the speed of play. It was a 24 second shot clock. It would reset if it hit the rim or backboard or if the other team gained posesion. -
