    He was the second emperor of the Tang Dynasty. Brought time of peace and prosperity to China. He built the dynasty's capital at Chang'an. He was a Confucian ruler who ruled somewhat based on his subjects.

    Defeat of the Turks
    The Tang Dynasty's only major threat were the Turks. The defeat of the Turks gave the Tang Dynasty able to grow without a fear of attack. They were brought down under emperor Tang Gao Zong.

    The Jurchen ruler Wanyan Aguda, starts the Jin Dynasty and takes control of the northern part of China. Later makes peace treaty with Southern Song Dynasty.

    Southern Song Dynasty
    The Song dynasty re-establishes further down after the invasion of JIn forces under Emperor Gaozong. The empire is constantly atacked by the Jin dynasty, so the Southern Song Dynasty is forced to paying the Jin Dynasty tribute so that it will no longer attack it.

    After taking down the Jin empire, the Mongols attack the Southern Song empire, capture Hangzhou, the capital, and bring an end to the Song Dynasty.

    The emperor persecuted Buddhists since he thought them to be disruptive to the Confucian thought in place. He destroyed more 40,00 temples and shrines of many religions.

    Led by Huang Chao who started the rebellion due to the poor economic situation in China. The rebellion weakened the Tang Dyansty since many towns were struck by it, especially Chang'an, the capital.

    He founded the Song dynasty and became its first emperor. Took control of much of China though his military power. He used a centralized government in which he also military under close supervision.

    The Tang Dynasty was a powerful dynasty in China. It had a centralized government with a bureaucarcy based on a merit sysytem. It was a prosperous society because it created and maintained roads, and created the equal-field system which prevented some social problems. The dynasty's decline came due to poor rulers and other internal problems.

    The Song Dynasty did not become a very powerful state, however it was very prosperous. It was divided between the northern and the southern Song Dynasties. It brought great developments in technology and culture.
