    The Jewish people did not become established in Venezuela until the middle of the 19th century. In the 1920s' and 1930's the Jewish immigration from Eastern and Central Europe increased tremendously. However, by the end of the 1930's, the Venezuelan government had imposed restriction on Jewish immigration. For instance, they could not own certain things such as stores or homes. Hence, the population of Jewish living in Venezuela started to decline by the 1940's.
