Nike Air Force 1 is introduced
This shoe is gound breaking for the game of basketball. There are 6 original athletes, 3 of which were along I-95. This was able to grow the shoe in 3 major cities of New York, Philly, and Baltimore. It has grown to a shoe worn off the court as well as on, even having a rap song written about it by Nelly and his group the St. Lunatics. There are now 6 new atheltes, two of the them being Lebron and Kobe who are emboding the tradition of the air force 1 shoe. -
Air Jordan shoe is introduced by Nike.
This is the most iconic basketball shoe of all time. Jordan is one of the most recognizable athletes in sports right now, and he as been retired for 7 years now. He has come out with a new shoe year after year and it is still going on today. Not only is it iconic to wear when playing basketball, but there are many collectors of this brand of shoes. I know a few myself personally, and they are avid collectors of these shoes. There are many athletes on team Jordan, most being basketball. -
Nike introduces the Air Max shoe, and the 1st Cross Training Shoe
Nike created a shoe that had a large air cushion, and for the first time you could see the air capsule in the heel of the shoe. This shoe was able to absorb more pressure, which took the pressure of your knees, ankles, and legs in general. Also at the same time they introduced the first cross training shoe which rose from the fitness revolution at the time. Bo Jackson became the eventual spokesperson of the shoe, and it took off. It was cushioned enough for the court and aerobics.
