Peasants Revolt
German peasants talk of Christian freedom, demanded an end to serfdom. The revolt horrified Luther which made him write a pamphlet urging the German princes to show the peasants no mercy. The German armies crushed the revolt . Feeling betrayed, many peasants rejected Luther's religious leadership. -

Northern German princes who supported Lutheranism ecame known as Protestants, But princes that were loyal to the Pope agreed to join forces against Luther's ideas. Catholic. Charles V went to war against the Protestant princes. The Protestants were defeated in 1547 but Charles failed in getting them back to the Catholic churches. -
