Compromise of 1850
The Compromise of 1850 is when the South gets Texas and Utah. The North gets California. You would think that everyone’s happy but the Fugitive Slave act was huge for the south and the north didn’t like it at all. -
Fugitive Slave Act
The Fugitive Slave Act is when the North had to capture runaway slaves. This led to the Civil war because the North did not want to capture the slaves for the South. So in conclusion the only place slaves were is Canada. -
Secession
The Secession is pretty much when the North and South can’t stand each other and they split but there’s already a president of the USA: Abe Lincoln. Abe is now the president of the North and the south gets their own president. Thus the Union and The Confederacy or made. -
Dred Scotts Decision
Dred Scott sued for his freedom for being captured in free territory. He lost the trial because he was a slave and slaves had no rights. The North got mad because he had to be a slave because he has no rights. -
John Browns Rebellion
John Brown was an abolitionist who went with 21 other slaves and stole weapons from the southern government. Unfortunately he was found and sentenced to a death penalty. -
Election of 1860
As you probably know Abe Lincoln won the election. He won because every northerner voted for him but the southerners all voted for other people. This caused tensions to south because now a person against slavery is now president.
