    Nat Turner was a black man. He and slaves went and killed 57 white people including plantation owners and their families. The South started to go kill more blacks because of what Nat did and more laws were passed against the slaves religious assembly.
  • Compromise of 1850

    Compromise of 1850
    The Compromise of 1850 was when Henry Clay said that California will join the union as a free state and Utah and New Mexico could vote to see if they want slaves in there state and they will stop selling slaves in Washinton D.C.
  • Kanas-Nebraska Act

    Kanas-Nebraska Act
    This is when Stephen A. Douglas said that Kanas and Nebraska vote when ever to let them allow slavery in there state. It made the South mad because they stilled wanted more slavery as the North would be happy that there came in as a free state.
  • John Brown Rebellion

    John Brown Rebellion
    This is when John Brown and his sons went and killed five people at Pottawatomie Creek, Kanas. Because of what John did the South started to go and kill more blacks.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    Dred Scott a black man who went to court about freedom and this was the most famous case of all. the owners plantation was in Illinios which slaves were illegel and Dreds laywer argued but when the Supreme court heard about it they said Dred scott and his family had no rights and more laws were passed.

    Abraham Lincoln was going for president and he was facing A. Douglas and John C. Breckinridge. When he was campaigning he said he will end slavery and on November 6, 1860 was officially president without one single Southern vote.

    This is when Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas, and Virginia formed the Confederate states because South Carolina claimed that the U.S. Constitution gave a state a right to secede if the Federal Government failed to uphold its obligations to a state.
