80's Tech

  • Video Game Console

    While they were technically invented in the 70's they did not become popular, cost effective, or readily available until 1980. It was the Atari 2600 that started the video game revolution.
  • IBM PC

    IBM came out with their personal computer. Basic model was $1600. It brought PC's to the average person starting the personal technology rush.
  • CD

    CD's changed the way we listened to music and would lead to a better way to store data. Phillips and Sony worked together to make the prototype a reality. Abba was the first available CD.
  • Cell Phone

    Much different from what we have today, cell phones came on to the scene and changed the way we communicate. It cost an astounding $3995 and only lasted for 30 minutes.
  • Windows 1.0

    Windows is the operating system of most PC's today. It was actually spearheaded originally by Bill Gates after seeing a similar program.
