Harriet's Timeline

  • The Day I Was Born

    The Day I Was Born
I was born on January 26, 1995 in Seoul, South Korea at around 1am. My full name is Harriet Hyeri Lee and my korean name means wisdom and crystal. My parents named me this because they wanted me to be wise and as pure and clean as a crystal. My parents told me that they often thought I was a genius because I learned to talk, read, walk and memorize by the time I was 1. This is the most important event because it marks the start of my life.

    My Timeline

  • First Move

    First Move
My Mom and Dad decided to move to Victoria, B.C. when I was only 6 months old. This was significant because my parents wanted to give me a better life in Canada and this affects me greatly because it has shaped me to become a more open minded person and a will for change.
  • Brother Is Born

    Brother Is Born
My brother, Samuel, was born on the 4th of December, 1996 in Victoria B.C. at around 6pm. When my brother was born it became a very important part of my life because there was a change from being and only child to an older sibling. I had to have responsibility for taking care of him as well as feeding him as well. I think my brother's birth helped me to become more patient and helped me share.
  • First Day of School/Kindergarten

    First Day of School/Kindergarten
My first day going to an official school other than preschool. This was one of the 4 kindergartens I attended. I learned to be able to get along with others and to be respectful and fair. I also learned to be an attentive listener when someone is talking and learned to be active as well.
  • Grandpa Passes Away

    Grandpa Passes Away
My Grandpa from my Dad's side passed away from a heart attack at the airport on his way from China back to Vancouver. He passed away a couple months after his 81st birthday and I did not get to see him before he passed away. His death helped me become stronger and be able to move on as well as giving me the ability to cope with future problems.
  • Family Tour

    Family Tour
My family rented a tour bus and we toured around the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia. There were a couple problems because the bus broke down once and another time a tire was popped. Nevertheless, we still had a lot of fun. This event helped me understand that problems can always be solved no matter how easy or hard the solution. Also I learned that often there can be better outcomes of a problem and the solution.
  • Uncle Passes Away

    Uncle Passes Away
My Uncle passed away from blood poisoning in Toronto, Ontario after doctors removed skin to test for cancer. Through this experience I learned that family love is the best medicine. Our whole family was able to get through this sad event by sticking together and supporting each other.
  • Fifth Move

    Fifth Move
We finally moved to Toronto, Ontario to support my uncle's family. This was an extremely significant event for me because I had no idea that my parents had decided to move. My parents told me a couple weeks before we moved during the summer and I did not have enough time to say goodbye to my friends. Moving to Toronto helped me realize that change is not always bad and that it can actually end up being better than before. It also helped me adapt to the new environments and people around me.
  • Cousin's Wedding

    Cousin's Wedding
My cousin, Christine got married and everyone in my family reunited after 5 years. This event helped me realize that family definitley comes first and that no matter how many years seperate family, it always feels as if we met each other yesterday. I learned that family can tie everyone together and that I can always count on them in times of celebration and need.
  • Graduation

    Graduation
My first graduation was at Lincoln Alexander Public School (L.A.P.S) This was my first time at a school for 3 years and I learned that the past 8 years of school were really significant in how I did in that grade. My grades were not excellent because I was not serious about them, but the results of the eighth grade helped me strive to do better and I recieved the honour roll in both semesters.
  • First Day of High School

    First Day of High School
My first day of high school at Richmond Green Secondary School and I went early to school for grade 9 day. I was slightly afraid and nervous for the first day of school because it was a big change from being the oldest of the school to the youngest. However, I managed to get through grade 9 and I learned to be confident and to not judge other people. Confidence was very important in making new friends. I also became very good with direction because of finding my way to my new classes.
  • Visit to Korea

    Visit to Korea
My first visit to Korea after 11 years. I had a lot of fun and went for one month. I did a lot of sightseeing and ate good food too! Through my most recent international vacation, I was able to learn loads about my own culture. I learned that history can really shape the style, culture and thoughts of a country and that technology can be used for many great uses.
