The pink ribbon is used for the first time as a sign of breast cancer awareness and support at the New York Race for the Cure. -
Chicago affiliate
The Chicagoland affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is established. -
International affiliates
Germany and Greece are the homes of the first international affiliates of Komen. -
100 Races for the Cure
With the 20th anniversary of the Race for the Cure, more than 100 of the races are held around the world. -
Name change
The organization changes its name to Susan G. Komen for the Cure as well as celebrates its 25th anniversary.
