  • The digital wristwatch

    1772
    invention: Electric Wristwatch
inventor: George H. Thiess Originally the wristwatch was created to make life easier by not having to read an analog clock and to make known the time more accurate. Some of us now have a harder time reading analog clocks but are able to access more than just the time on digital watches such as checking health levels or making calls and are more focused on how to fill our time.
  • Digital Camera

    1975
invention: the first commercial digital camera
inventors: Terry Walker, Harry Garland, and Roger Melen
This camera is called the Cromemco Cyclops. The camera was built with the hopes of success if using a microcomputer to communicate through video and sound. The images max out at 32 x 32 pixels. Today we have high definition in both film and cameras allowing for better communication through images and successful advertising.
  • MRI machines

    1977
invention: MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machines
    inventor: Dr. Raymond Damadian
The machine was created to scan bodies and had been done successfully by 1977. He had been studying years prior how to find the information and create the machine throughout the '70s. The first examination had been done successfully by his assistant. Millions of lives have been saved because of the ability of machines to inform doctors and nurses of things occurring on the inside of humans.
  • Apple II

    April 1977
    invention: Apple II
inventors: Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak
This was the first personal computer to have massive market success, despite the Apple I coming out just a year prior. The expansion slots are what made this computer so popular. Adding eight to the motherboard, allowed for the opportunity for new software to be built. By building this we have been inspired to continue to update our technology through the study of coding, computers, and software
  • Sony Walkman

    July 1979
    inventions: Sony Walkman
    inventor: Sony
Walkman TPS-L was the most popular personal music device of its time. Originally sold in Japan the expectation was for them to sell 5,000 but in turn, they sold 50,000 that year. Its size and weight made transport and listening to music easy. This has led to us having new and different forms of being able to access music. One can assume this device inspired CD players and iPods.
