    In 1971 by Intel, the first microprocessor was invented and made commercially available by Frederico Faggin, Marcian Hoff, and Stanley Mazor. A microprocessor handles all the complex mathematical operations a computer performs as well as regulates the operations of other components in a computer.

    The first liquid-crystal display (LCD) was invented in 1971 by James Fergason. LCD is a flat panel display used for dacades in TV's and computer screens. This display type is still used in modern day despite market domination by variations of LED.

    In 1973 the ethernet was invented by Robert Metcalfe and Xerox. The ethernet is a way to locally connect computer devices, allowing for a completely offline network. This is still used significantly in modern day.
  • First cellphone

    In 1973, the first ever successful prototype for a cell phone was made by Martin Cooper at Motorola. While the first commercially available cell phone wouldn't be released for another 10 years, this was the start to the boom in widespread cellphone use that is known today.
