Christopher Columbus discovers America
Columbus reached the Caribbean and the island of San Salvador on this day. This is important because his "discovery" brought North America to the attention of Europe. -
Jamestown Colony Created
The settlers came to Jamestown in hope to find gold. The people began to starve ,but John Smith saved the settlers from starvation. John Smith had to return to England. The starving just increased and some people even lead to cannibalism. -
Plymouth Colony created
Just like the Jamestown settlement around 50% of the colonists passed due to the extreeme winter weather and the many diseases. -
Massachusetts Bay Colony created
Eleven ships arrived from England at Salem and John Winthrop was the first govener of the colony. -
New Amsterdam becomes New York
The English sent people over seas to over take New Amsterdam. The orininal settlers of New Amsterdam were overrun by the British. This led to New Amsterdam becoming New York. -
William Penn creates Pennsylvania
William Penn created Pennsylvania to allow religious freedom. Especially for his fellow quakers. This was a serious subject for him because he was an outkast by his own colony due to his religous beliefs. -
George Washington assaults Fort Duquesne
George's milita attacked Fort Duqesne and lost the battle. This battle lead to the start of the French and Indian. -
The Albany Congress meets
23 colonists became a group to resolve major problems in Ohio Valley. -
The French & Indian War concludes
The French and Indian War ended through a treaty signed in Paris, France
