    eldora nordic ctr. 1.25 hrs from central denver. Lots of skaters. Mostly Blue; some black; some green. Moose close to trail in a meadow. Great workout.
  • Barr Lake

    Not enough snow to XC ski\, so we walked the trail. Saw several bald eagles\, American Kestral\, Swainson's Hawk\, and bizzare ice paintings on the lake.

    The 9.0 mile hike on Day 1 took 8.5 hrs. We hit the trail at 6:00 AM. The elevation gain was 6100 ft. I considered sleeping in the jungle at the 13K marker--fighting sleep deprivation\, asthma\, and quad muscle fatigue\, but my mind returned to the jaguarundi i spotted earlier and so i walked as if with bound feet up the cruel final uphill kilometer. We got to the Crestones base camp shelter at 2:30 and fell asleep immediately to the beginning sounds of rain on the metal roof. >< Day 2 began...

    6/11-6/12. Still snow in shade and lots of runoff. Very cold. Trail wiped out by runoff and beaver ponds.

    First attempt to reach Roosevelt & Beartrack Lakes; turned back before pegmatite points due to thunderstorm. All uphill. Not great scenery/rocky trail first 2 miles, then much nicer after cross and leave tanglewood creek.

    Great fall colors on the trail and on the road over Kenosha Pass.
  • Walker Ranch Loop

    7.5 miles 3.5 hrs
    easy & strenuous Lynn & Mike Down, up, down, and back up. Lots of bikes and unleashed dogs; Heavy use in Boulder's X-urbs. But a great hike with diverse scenery & conditions. Let's go back and do it again!
