Dodgy dealing
Algeria beat West Germany There is a fascinating article in The Observer about how politics and dodgy dealing are part of football. Algeria had beaten West Germany and looked like they would go through to the knockout rounds in the 1982 World Cup. All that changed when Austria and Germany decided not to compete with one another so that they would both go through at the expense of Algeria. Disgraceful.
