Columbus Left Spain
Columbus departed Spain looking for riches and spices in India. He sailed ships named the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. -
Jamestown Colony
People from the Virginia Company sailed to the New World to settle Jamestown. The settlement did not go well the first year as many colonists ed from starvation and from Native attacks. John Smith and Pocahontus are famous historical figures associated with Jamestown. -
Plymouth Colony was established
Pilgrims sailed over on the ship the Mayflower and settled at Plymouth seeking religious freedom. Important events in Plymouth include the creation of the Mayflower Compact,the first Thanksgiving,
and peace with the Native Americans -
The Sugar Act was made
The Sugar act was the same as the Stamp Act although the American colonists had to pay taxes for Sugar in Britain and not paper. -
The Quartering Act
Before the Bill of Rights, British soldiers and Patriots were allowed to go in to any American household t and stay by law. This terrible rule was started with the Quartering Act. This clearly was not beneficial to the American colonists and was changed in the bill of rights after the Revolutionary war. -
The Stamp Act was inforced to the American colonists
The Stamp Act happened right before the Revolutionary War and is what partly caused it. It started after the French and Indian War because the British were very much in debt. So they started making the American colonists pay taxes for the British and this made the Americans very mad. -
The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was a massacre of five inoccent civillians and it happened like this. So first, there was a heckling crowd when some British soldiers were strolling through. The British soldiers started to get mad and started shooting the civillians. The soldiers were aressted for manslaughter. -
The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was when "Sons of Liberty" went on to a British ship and dumped three hundred and forty two crates of tea in to the ocean. They did this for the reason because the British were taxing the American colonists and they got very angry. This now made Britain very angry because of all the loss of the tea. -
Paul Reveres ride to warn the Americans
Paul Revere was just strolling around on his horse on a ride. Then he heard a loud shot fired fro the British also known as "The Shot heard 'Round the World." So Paul Revere immediately turned and galloped down the streets of the Americans saying his famous line,"THE BRITISH ARE COMING! THE BRITISH ARE COMING!" This has been known as Paul Reveres ride. -
The battle of Saratoga
The battle of Saratoga was a series of battles all culminating inside it (ducksters.com). The battles were, the battle of Bennington, the battle of Freemans Farm, and the battle of Bemis Heights. The battle of Bennington was a loss to John Burgoyne and the British as well as the rest. In the battle of Freemans Farm the Patriots sneak attacked the British resulting in hundreds of casulties for the British.Lastly, the British lost the battle of Bemis heights after trying to attack.
