    Printing Press

In 1440, Johannes Gutenberg took the existing printing press and created new technology with lead alloy that allowed the process to be greatly expedited. This is significant because it allowed information to be widely distributed for the first time. When we compare that to now, that technology is at our fingertips.
  • PC (Personal Computers)

In 1837, Charles Babbage created the first mechanical computing unit. This was a mechanical piece of equipment that could perform basic computing equations. This is truly interesting, as the computers we all used to create this seem so mainstream and straight forward. We would never think that a mechanical piece of machinery started what computers have evolved iinto today.

    Transistors

in 1947, Bell Laboratories created the first transistor. This may be a foreign word to some, however transistors are in all technology that we use today. This device that allows current to be regulated across a circuit board is an essential part to each and every electronic equipment piece we use today. Without it, technology would look much different.
  • The internet

While who exactly invented the internet is still up for debate, its history is quite interesting. The internet started as "node to node" communication. Similar to what we know now as LAN connections, the first internet was more of a communication between machines. This is still the basic concept of internet, as it is still on a basic basis, machines communicating with each other. This truly revolutionized the centuries to come.
  • Cell Phones

In 1973, Motorola invented the first cell phone. This is a critical part of our lives as we know it now, as they have completely changed the way we communicate with people. We run businesses, connect with family, and have a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips. The evolution of the cellphone is truly incredible from where it came from.
