Narvaez Expedition
Panfilo de Narvaez was a king of Spain and was lieutenant governor of Cuba. He came to the Americas to arrive at Florida to take control over the Spanish provinces. He soon sailed to the Texas coast but drowned of a hurricane that struck the ship he was sailing. -

Cabeza de Vaca's Exploration
Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca shipwrecked near Galveston during the Narváez Expedition. After they shipwrecked the few survivors begin to explore Texas and finally reach Mexico City. And became the first Europeans in Texas. -

Estevanico Explores with De Vaca
Estevanico is a African slave and was the first person to have set foot on the continental North American that is from Africa. He was one of the four survivors. A hurricane strikes Cabeza de Vaca's ship and lands on Galveston Island. They escape to the interior of Texas. -

These bands of indians settled down along banks of creeks. Even though Anglo Americans were starting to settle down in that area, the indians weren't very peaceful with the settlers that were in their homeland. But in 1830 they started to abandon their land because the county was going under control of the French. -
Austin's Colonization

Johann Friedrich Ernst was the first German to bring his family to Texas. He fled Oldenburg because of accusations of embezzling money by the Duke of Oldenburg from the post office. His family and him settled down in one of Austin's colonies. -

The Texas Santa Fe Expedition was set out for Santa Fe. President Mirabeau B. Lamar wanted to gain control of the Santa Fe Trail and develop trade with New Mexico. But came across with Mexican forces and were ordered to march 2000 miles to prison in Mexico City. -
Large scale of German Immigration Arrives
A German association, Adelsverein, sends two members, Joseph of Boos-Waldeck and Victor August of Leiningen-Westerburg-Alt-Leiningen, to Texas to investigate and purchase land for German immigrants. -
Somervell Expedition
President sam Houston ordered Alexander Somervell to form a militia and to invade Mexico. His expedition captured Laredo and Guerrero but soon recognized his failure in the expedition and ordered his men to retrieve home. -
First Chinese arrive in Texas
The first Chinese that arrive in Texas came in two contingents with the railroads. They were laborers in California and arrived in Houston and Texas Central. But soon some moved out of Texas because the Houston-Dallas line was terminated.
